Router Emulators
On the other day, I was asked by a friend of mine how to set up a wireless adsl router over the phone. Trying to help someone especially the technical problems and if the that someone is inexperience.. then you can guess how much it would cumbersome.
So back to story, All I know is she’s using a Dlink product. I had a few experience on configuring Dlink routers, APs in the past and one good thing about DLink is that they have similar web interface. So I had to guess and navigate her to go here and there in the web interface. Funny and yet annoying thing is that she keeps reading out every single line she sees. Then suddently I got something came into my head..
Yes! Emulators and I wonder DLink have those or not. I asked her for the Model number again and search it on google and.. Voila! I found those emulators from Dlink. Emulators work like you are really doing the configuring in the actual device. (Some of the functions are disabled though).
Then I could able to help her as I was setting in front of her PC.
I found other emulators such as Linksys and Netgear.
